These selfies have done the unthinkable. Made art galleries hilarious.

Sometimes it feels as if selfies have been around forever. Yet, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first time the concept was mentioned was in 2002 on the Australian ABC online forum. (“Twerk” and “Binge-Watching” filled the other top spots).

Selfies, it seems, have come of age. We’re now bombarded with variations, so much so that you’d be forgiven for thinking there wasn’t an original selfie idea left. Think again. A redditor recently shared three marvellous examples of a brand new concept, the portrait painting selfie. Suddenly a visit to your local gallery is a lot less serious and a lot more fun. Here are three excellent examples why.
